I've read about the debate over having weekly recycling runs. I would like to see weekly runs, although I am told that this may not be economically feasible for many years to come... Perhaps only on a suburb-by-suburb basis?

However, Adelaide City Council (yes another plug for the ACC), has taken one step further in their quest for a sustainable city.

As of the 8th December 2008, residents in select areas will also receive an Organic (green) waste removal bin and service. This is on a section-by-section demand service (ie. areas with low demand do not get the service for now).

The ACC has also taken steps to discourage waste generation- by making the landfill bin smaller (140L), and the recycling and organic waste bin much larger (240L). This discourages "induced demand".
