| Hi Steve, I have spoken to a member of our Active Transport team and they told me that there is an Airport Bicycle User Group that might be able to help you with information on how to travel safely around the Airport Precinct. You may like to visit the Bicycle Queensland website and contact them to find out more information. At the moment there is construction taking place with road upgrades and this would be one of the reasons they would be discouraging people from cycling in the area. I was told that there are plans to have bikeways that link to the new gateway bridge although I don't have any more details than that for you at this stage.

I think there was something about the Gateway Motorway duplication including bikeway lanes, but not sure if you could get to the airport that way...
The area around Kingsford Smith Drive is a downright disgrace and is horrible for cycling, on road or off. Try walking- there is no footpath in some places.
Definitely noticing more and more cyclists on the roads and on the paths... Hopefully the rate of bike rack installations in areas such as the Airport, suburban hubs, shopping centres etc keeps pace.

| I work in the airport precinct and would like to ride to work from Clayfield, but Kingsford Smith rd and other roads around the area are very narrow and carry a lot of heavy vehicle traffic. Is there any plan to provide Cycleways or Bike paths in and around the Airport precinct? Perhaps along the disused train corridor? I have also heard that the Brisbane Airport Corporation actively discourage cycling near the airport, which is ludicrous as it is the perfect area to cycle around, being very flat. Steve19
