Hi Heli,

I showed this photo to a Council Officer who specialises in invaisive species and this is what he said...

It's a bit hard to be 100% from the small low res photo, but it appears to be a cane toad.  Cane toads are distinct from native frogs in that they have raised toxin glands behind the eyes, have a distinct visor that extends over each eye like a sharp eyebrow, and have a bony ridge that extends from the eye to above the nostril.  Additionally, cane toads have claw-like unwebbed toes used for digging.

I hope this information is helpful

Hi Heli,

I will show this picture to one of our invasive species experts and I'll get back to you shortly.

I woke up this morning to find 5 what looks to me like cane toads in my mini pond. I don't want to kill frogs by accident. I have read on the web how to identify the cane toads but I'm still not hundred percent sure. I wonder if there is a sure way of identifying these 5 animals before I decide what to do.

Can anyone advise what I can do?

I live in Calamvale.

Thanks
