Lawn weed ID required please

I have this weed that is slowly taking over my yard, I have been searching over the net trying to find the name and how to remove it without having to individually weed it out which with the tap root would break off.
I have tried a heap of the broad spetrum sprys like BIN-DIE, HORICO BINDII & CLOVER KILLER, SEARLES LAWN PERFECT but no joy.
I have included some links to a few shots.
I hope you can help me with a cure for this weed without having to kill my lawn.
Since these shots I have used dynamic lifer on my lawn and the grass has grown back through the majority of the weed but it is still there and if the lawn gets stressed again it will come through stronger.
